As parents and carers, what can you do to support school with the behaviour of your child?
Check their planner each night
What am I looking for?
Below is a typical weekly page in the planner.
If it is yellow week, it will be yellow. If it is blue week, it will be blue.

Behaviour comments
Behaviour comments are negative and students receive these when they do not meet our expectations, this can be either in class or around the college. If you child is receiving comments you can see where from, in the subject/location column and you can find details in the comment column.
We encourage you to have conversations with your child about why they are receiving comments.
What questions can I ask?
Below are some example questions you can ask your children.
Why do you have so many comments for having your shirt out?
Why do you have so many comments for low level disruption?
Why have you been removed from X [enter subject]?
You will find the behaviour comments in the second table on the right:

If a student reaches 10 comments in a week, they are put into inclusion for a full day. Inclusion is the highest sanction in school.
Students can receive an hour after school detention if they are:
- Late to school
- Are using their mobile phone/electronic device
- Receive an S4 from a classroom
- 3x late to lesson
S4’s
An S4 is a removal from a classroom. This usually occurs when a student has been disruptive. When a student is disrupting the lesson staff move from S1 through to S4. Before receiving the S4 students are given 4 warnings. Removal from the classroom is a last resort.
Students can also receive an immediate S4 for any of the below:
- Speaking to a member of staff inappropriately
- Dangerous or violent behaviour
- Racist/homophobic/hateful language
Punctuality to class
Punctuality to class is very important. The first 5-10 minutes of a lesson is where students have time to settle and do a retrieval exercise which is recapping previous knowledge, a skill that is essential for our students to develop.
If students receive 3x late to lesson in a week, they will receive an hour after school detention and for every subsequent late the receive to a lesson, they will receive a lunch time detention.
Praise
Praise is at the heart of our positive discipline system; we want to reward all our students who consistently work hard across the college. Students will receive praise stamps from all their teachers. You can find the praise stamps on the left-hand page.
Uniform expectations
We expect all our students to come to school dressed and ready to learn. This consists of:
Black trousers
White shirt
Tie
Black socks
Black shoes
Grey blazer
We do have a bank of uniform we can lend out to students however it is parent/carer responsibility to ensure their children have the correct uniform.
We often have a large number of students daily who do not have a tie.
Jewellery
No jewellery is allowed apart from a small crucifix worn under the shirt, a watch, a single strand bangle/bracelet worn for religious observance and one discreet metal gold or silver stud earring in each ear which must be removed for PE. No nose rings or other piercings are allowed. The school will take no responsibility for these items. Any students who will not remove earrings for PE lessons will face a consequence.
PE kit
If students do not have their P.E kit 3x in a half term, they will be in inclusion for a full day.
Please ensure you children are ready for the school day, this may be helping them pack their bag the night before, going through their timetable to ensure they have all books and equipment needed.
